Nikolaï is one of the members of the Doukhobor community of Gorelovka. Doukhobors are a christian religious group originally from Russia which rejected the Orthodox church and left Russia. They are pacifist, refuse icons and any kind of hierarchy, including priests and governments. They believe that God's spirit is in each individual.
